Welcome to Our New Blog

This message is for Mom. (If you are not a Mom, please read this anyway and then share it with a Mom.)

You are a remarkable person. You have so many responsibilities when raising your little ones -- feeding, clothing and protecting them 24/7. How you accomplish everything is a great achievement.

We know your life is crazy busy -- and you are constantly looking for ways to make your children's lives better and your days easier to navigate.

The Johnson County Public Library can help.

We are starting this special blog series called Memo for Mom. Written by our staff, we will provide helpful hints and great ideas for you to use when spending time with your children.

Some of our topics will include:

  • How to teach your kids to love science.
  • Free or low cost family activities in Johnson County.
  • Websites and apps your children will find fun and educational.
  • Tips for storytime.
  • How to prepare your child for a visit with Santa Claus.
  • Memo for Mom will be posted on our new website, PageAfterPage.org -- just in case you missed one or want to go back and reread all of them.

We will be posting links to Memo for Mom on the Johnson County Public Library Facebook page and our other social media sites. Click here if you would like to join our Facebook page.

We are producing a free downloadable guide entitled: "First Teacher: A Mom's Guide to Helping Your Little One Learn." Our staff has compiled lots of activities to help your toddler or preschooler with reading, writing, talking, singing, playing and exploring math and science.

We hope you enjoy our Memo for Mom. And if you are a Dad or Grandparent or other child caregiver, we hope you read them too.

Click here if you would like to receive Memo for Mom and other helpful emails from the Johnson County Public Library. (FYI. We don't sell or pass along our email lists.)

Click here if you have an idea  for a topic and want to send it to us.

All of our best,

The JCPL Children's Library Staff
