You don't need to be wealthy to leave a meaningful legacy.

Join the Silver Tree Society Today and Make a Difference at the Library Tomorrow.

The Silver Tree Society was created to honor donors who have chosen to leave a legacy to the Johnson County Public Library Foundation in the form of planned giving or a deferred gift. Members of the Silver Tree Society will by publicly acknowledged for their vision in supporting the Library into its second century of service. There are a variety of financial arrangements to discuss with your attorney or tax advisor that will allow you to make a planned gift to the JCPL Foundation.

Bequest in Your Will

You may make a bequest of:

• cash
• stocks and bonds
• real estate
• personal property
• a percentage of your estate

Life Insurance

You may designate the JCPL Foundation as a beneficiary on your insurance policy or transfer the policy outright.

Individual Retirement Accounts

You may designate the JCPL Foundation as a beneficiary of a portion or all of your account.

Trusts

A trust may be established to benefit the JCPL Foundation now or at a later time.

Annuities

You may make an outright gift to the JCPL Foundation and receive annuity payments until a specified time in the future.

Restricted or Unrestricted?

Unrestricted gifts allow the Johnson County Public Library to grow endowment funds and quickly respond to the changing needs and opportunities of the Library. Restricted gifts may be accepted if they are consistent with the mission of the Johnson County Public Library Foundation.

Who can leave a legacy?

Planned giving is for everyone. You do not need to be wealthy to leave a meaningful legacy. Regardless of the dollar value of one’s estates, your planned gift will make a difference at the Library.

How will my gift make a difference?

For many years, the Johnson County Public Library has benefited greatly from the planned gifts established by individuals. Through the generosity of donors, the Library is able to:

• Purchase additional books, materials and resources
• Provide free literary programs and outstanding community experiences such as Authors at JCPL, the Summer Learning Program and 1000 Books before Kindergarten Challenge.
• Plan for the future – assist in funding of outstanding library buildings and amenities

Join the Silver Tree Society and you can help secure the future of the Library for many generations to come.
